BREWSTER – The Path to the Podium, a three-day youth basketball tournament played at Pateros and Brewster last weekend, was more like an obstacle course for the 75-plus teams that signed up to compete.
The state basketball championship qualifier for B and small A school boys and girls in the third through eighth-grade divisions involved non-stop action on courts in the two cities as teams battled it out to determine who moves on to Spokane for the next round of games in March.
The event was sanctioned by the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) of the U.S. and required that team members needed to be from the same school.
