WENATCHEE — The Wenatchee AppleSox's defensive woes proved costly as they fell to the Kamloops NorthPaws 9-3 on Wednesday night at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium, snapping their winning streak.

The AppleSox (27-13, 9-5 second half) committed five errors, leading to a disastrous start as they surrendered eight runs in the first two innings. This marked Wenatchee's first loss since July 11 and the first time they've scored fewer than five runs in a game since that date.

Despite the lopsided score, there were some bright spots for Wenatchee. Cannon Peery drove in two runs, while Jackson Campbell provided 3.2 scoreless innings of relief. However, these efforts were not enough to overcome the early deficit.

Prior to the game, Jack DeDonato was honored with the 2024 Tommy Watanabe Award. DeDonato, who is entering his junior year at Marshall University, made AppleSox history by becoming only the second player to suit up for the team in four different seasons. Although sidelined since late June, DeDonato has remained an integral part of the team, contributing off the field and providing support from the dugout.

The AppleSox will look to rebound in the series finale against the NorthPaws on Thursday night. The game, scheduled for a 6:35 p.m. start, will feature a pre-game ceremony honoring host parents as part of Host Parent Appreciation Night.
