WENATCHEE - The Wenatchee AppleSox shut out the Cascade Collegiate League Showcase team 7-0 on Saturday night at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium. Evan Cloyd led the way for the AppleSox, driving in two runs and scoring twice in the non-league game.

Seven AppleSox pitchers combined to blank the CCL team, with the home team recording three two-run innings. The first came in the bottom of the first inning, followed by another in the third and one more in the fifth.

Cloyd had a strong performance at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI singles and a stolen base. Cannon Peery scored three runs and recorded two hits, while Jonathan Fitz contributed two RBI singles and drew two walks.

The AppleSox took advantage of a throwing error in the first inning to score their first run, with Peery reaching on a fielder's choice. Cam Hoiland singled in Peery two batters later to extend the lead.

In the eighth inning, a bases-loaded wild pitch brought home the final run for Wenatchee. Andrew Manson closed out the game by striking out the side in the ninth.

The AppleSox will face the CCL Showcase team again on Sunday night, with fans arriving early receiving AppleSox trading cards presented by WaFd Bank.
