Washington State Patrol honors fallen Trooper with statewide "One More Stop" patrol

OLYMPIA — The Washington State Patrol (WSP) will conduct a statewide emphasis patrol to honor fallen Trooper Christopher Gadd, who was killed in the line of duty earlier this year.

The "One More Stop" patrol is set for Friday, Sept. 27, from 4 p.m. to 5 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, continuing Trooper Gadd's mission of enhancing road safety.

Trooper Gadd, badge number 927, lost his life on March 2, 2024, after being struck by an impaired driver on Interstate 5 north of Marysville. Before the incident, Gadd had informed his colleagues he would join them for a break after making "One More Stop."

WSP Chief John R. Batiste praised Gadd's dedication, stating, "Trooper Gadd was a fine young man with a big heart and passion to serve the community – a true example of the best of us. He made the ultimate sacrifice while working to make our roads a safer place."

The emphasis patrol will involve officers across Washington state conducting traffic stops in Gadd's honor, focusing on reducing dangerous driving behaviors.

"With this emphasis, we honor his memory by continuing his efforts to protect the community he dedicated his life to," Chief Batiste added.

The WSP's initiative underscores the ongoing commitment to road safety and serves as a tribute to Trooper Gadd's service and sacrifice.
