Rodney Lance Dodge, a long-time resident of Okanogan County, departed this world on July 26, 2024, at age 86, in Brewster, WA.

Rod was born in Omak, WA, on November 15, 1937, to Loren and Della (Armstrong) Dodge, and graduated from Twisp High School in 1955. He earned a Physical Education degree from Washington State University in 1959 and completed his Physical Therapy training and education at the esteemed Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, in 1961. After working with children and adults with disabilities (2 years with Easter Seals in San Francisco and 2 years with Everett School System) Rod became the first Physical Therapist north of Wenatchee.

He and Patricia Dodge, moved to Brewster in 1965, where they raised their three children. Rod continued his practice for 42 years, working in conjunction with the Okanogan-Douglas County Hospital. Retiring in 2007, Rod reported that he liked his job, working with people, and seeing their progress.

Rod enjoyed the outdoors, including fishing, hunting, horse-back riding, hiking, and skiing. He enjoyed flying the single-engine plane he had part ownership in. He was active on the Ski Patrol for the Loup Loup Ski Bowl for many years. He was a member of Kiwanis and the Seventh-Day Adventist church

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Christina Jean Dodge; parents, Loren and Della M. Dodge; and sisters: Wanda R. Campbell, Loreen S. Bernbeck (Larry), and Diann A. Loya. Rod is survived by his wife, Bonnie L. Dodge of 35 years; daughter, Pam Stonecypher (Wes); granddaughters: Sara Stonecypher-Delia (Jon) and Emily Stonecypher; son, Ted Dodge (Jennifer); granddaughter, Brittany (Dakota) Dodge, grandsons: TJ (Josie) Dodge, Jerodan (Kaitlyn) Dodge, Seth (Brielle) Dodge, Brice (Fanny) Dodge, and Zane Dodge; 14 great-grandchildren; first wife, Patricia Dodge; brother, Jerry Dodge (Margaret); sisters: Charlotte E. Dodge, Suzette Alberts, Mary M. Seaton (Art), and Deborah A. Jorgensen (Erik); and many nieces and nephews.

The community is invited to Rod’s Service on Sunday August 25, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 17 Hospital Way, Brewster, WA. He will be remembered with a plaque on a family plot in Twisp, WA, at a later date.
