Gregory Louis Shaw

Gregory Louis Shaw was born on October 4th, 1989.

Greg attended school in Mansfield and Auburn before graduating from Bridgeport High School in 2008. Between his junior and senior year he did early enlistment in the Air Force and completed his basic training at Lackland Air Base in San Antonio, Texas. After boot camp he attended Airman training at Sheppard Air Force Base in north Texas then he was stationed at Davis Monthan Air Base in Tucson, AZ. After a time he was deployed to Romania for a short period and Turkey for a short time. In 2017 he left active duty but remained in the reserves until 2022. He then went on to be employed at the Western Passport Office in Tucson as a Armed Security Guard.

Greg enjoyed an outdoor life of hunting and shooting. He was the High Junior Pistol Shooter in the Inland Empire Rifle & Pistol Association during the 2007-08 season. He was an avid reader and was very interested in steam trains and WWII ships and aircraft. He was very fortunate to be able to fly in a couple of World War II bombers. He also enjoyed playing various board and video games with friends.

Greg is survived by his father Sam (Laurie), brother Gabe (Kirsten), mother Danise Cartwright, Grandfather Lou Cartwright, Uncle Dave Cartwright, Uncle Dick (Jackie) Shaw, Aunts Lucile Minatani (Victor) and Susan Shaw, Step-uncles Terry and Gary and Step-aunt Gloria Walker. He leaves behind nephews Wyatt, Wade and Westyn, as well as cousins and step cousins.

He was preceded in death by his step-mother Diane, Grandparents Louie and Ruthie Shaw, Grandmother Shirley Cartwright, and Diane’s mother, Grandma Joyce.

The family requests no flowers in lieu of a donation to Tunnel to Towers or Wounded Warriors.
