Teresa Marchand Hoback
September 18, 1949 – July 4, 2026
Teresa Marchand Hoback, a woman whose life was defined by love, generosity, and service to others, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on the 4th of July.

Teresa was born on September 18, 1949, to Claude and Lois (Busherd) Marchand. She was raised in Mansfield, Washington, where she graduated from Mansfield High School with the Class of 1968. Following high school, Teresa pursued her passion for helping others feel beautiful by earning her cosmetology license. Throughout her life, she worked as a beautician as well as many service industry positions in several communities, forming lasting friendships with the many people whose lives she touched.

In June of 1972, Teresa married the love of her life, Chuck Hoback. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and serving others. They welcomed their daughter, Natalie, who became the pride and joy of their lives.
Teresa was the definition of a devoted wife. Following Chuck's stroke, she lovingly cared for him with unwavering patience, compassion, and strength, faithfully standing by his side through every challenge. Her commitment to her family was a testament to the vows she cherished.

As a mother, Teresa taught Natalie one of life's greatest lessons: that giving your time is every bit as valuable as giving your resources. She believed that kindness, service, and showing up for others were among the greatest gifts a person could offer.

Teresa lived those values every day. She was an active volunteer throughout the Omak community. While Natalie attended school, Teresa dedicated countless hours volunteering in the Omak School District. She served as a Camp Fire leader for many years, volunteered as a Sunday School teacher, and gave freely of herself wherever there was a need. Teresa continued to give of her time later in life, spending many hours working and volunteering at the Okanogan County Historical Museum. She loved the weekends she spent at the museum. Those who knew Teresa often said she would give the shirt off her back to help someone else, and she truly embodied that spirit of selflessness.

Her greatest joy in recent years was becoming "Grandma-Bug" to her beloved granddaughter, Kennedy. She treasured every moment spent with her and loved watching her grow.
Teresa is survived by her loving daughter, Natalie Hoback-Noyd and her husband, David Noyd; her cherished granddaughter, Kennedy; her sisters, KayeThoren (Johnny), Jo Mumma (Kent), and Pamela Matthiesen (Ric), Nephews Mike Thoren, Larry Thoren, Ryan Mumma, Kyle Mumma, Nieces Claudette Rawley and Cari Hammond along with numerous extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Lois Marchand; her beloved husband, Chuck Hoback; and an infant daughter.

Teresa's legacy is one of unwavering love, quiet strength, and selfless generosity. She lived a life that reminded us all that the greatest measure of a person is not what they possess, but what they give to others. Her kindness, compassion, and servant's heart will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
A celebration of Teresa's life will be held Friday, July 17, 2026 at 11:00am at the Mansfield United Protestant Church in Mansfield, Washington. A memorial for the staff and residents of Heritage Heights will be held Friday, July 31st at 2:00pm in Chelan.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Okanogan County Historical Museum or the Mansfield Museum. The family encourages others to honor Teresa's memory by performing an act of kindness, volunteering in their community, or helping someone in need—just as Teresa did throughout her life.
