Spokane Valley man critical after hit-and-run on SR 17 near Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT – A Spokane Valley man is in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on State Route 17 near Bridgeport.

According to a Washington State Patrol report, the pedestrian identified as Arthur M. Binford, 59, was walking southbound on SR 17 near milepost 138, approximately three miles north of Bridgeport in Okanogan County, between 3 and 4 a.m. on Wednesday when he was struck by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene. 

Binford came to rest on the right shoulder of the highway. He was airlifted to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee and, from there, transferred to Harborview.
