CDRPA releases Phase 2 Report on Wenatchee Valley Sports Complex feasibility

WENATCHEE — The Chelan Douglas Regional Port Authority (CDRPA) has released the Phase 2 Report for the Regional Sports Complex Feasibility Study, advancing the evaluation of a potential new sports facility for the Wenatchee Valley.

The report concludes a 16-month study conducted by BerryDunn, managed by the CDRPA, and overseen by a steering committee of local elected officials and stakeholders.

The study's first phase identified a need and demand for improved sports fields and aquatics facilities in the region. The second phase examined the project's feasibility, including potential site locations, conceptual designs, capital and operating cost estimates, and potential economic impact.

East Wenatchee Mayor Jerrilea Crawford, who chairs the steering committee, commented on the study's importance, stating, "We are excited to unveil the final report for the regional sports complex feasibility study. This is a key step in our efforts to enhance community well-being and promote regional economic growth."

Crawford added, "This detailed analysis provides valuable insights into the potential cost and impact of the proposed complex. We encourage the public to thoroughly review the findings. Engaging with the report is crucial for ensuring that the complex meets the needs and expectations of our diverse community."

The steering committee received the Phase 2 Report on September 12. While no immediate actions were taken, the committee plans to reconvene in the fall to discuss potential next steps.

The CDRPA, formed as the first functionally consolidated port authority of two county-wide port districts in Washington state, serves as the principal economic development agency for Chelan and Douglas Counties.
