WENATCHEE — Gov. Bob Ferguson has appointed Douglas County Economic Development Director Soo Ing-Moody to a five-year term on the Wenatchee Valley College Board of Trustees. The board also elected longtime trustee and Bridgeport High School Principal Tamra Jackson as chair, the college announced Nov. 4.

Ing-Moody, of Twisp, has worked for Douglas County since May 2025. She served as Twisp mayor from 2010 through 2023 and spent more than three years as an engagement and outreach specialist for the Washington State Department of Commerce. She also served as president of the Association of Washington Cities.

U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell recognized Ing-Moody with a Woman of Valor award in 2015 for her leadership during the 2014 and 2015 wildfire disasters. In the college’s announcement, Ing-Moody said she looks forward to working with public- and private-sector partners to connect students with career opportunities that reflect the region’s workforce needs.

Jackson was appointed to the board in 2012 and has served as Bridgeport High School principal since 2009. She has taught English for more than 40 years and has served on committees of the Washington State Association of College Trustees. She has also contributed to national discussions about community colleges and issues facing rural campuses through the Association of Community College Trustees.

The board oversees the college’s budget and sets its strategic direction. Trustees must live within the college district and are appointed by the governor to renewable five-year terms. More information is available on the college’s Board of Trustees page.
