Posted

WENATCHEE - The Wenatchee Valley Dispute Resolution Center (WVDRC) announced its upcoming mediation training courses, scheduled for November 2024 and March 2025. The courses will train new mediators and provide conflict resolution skills to professionals and community members.

The WVDRC describes the comprehensive course as a "game-changer" for personal and professional development. It is designed for individuals interested in becoming certified volunteer mediators with the WVDRC, those seeking to improve their conflict management skills, and professionals in human resources, legal, counseling, and education fields.

The announcement poses several questions to potential participants: "Are you a good listener? Do you stay curious when exploring conflicts? Can you manage emotions in stressful situations? Do you want to help people create solutions that work for individual needs, lives, and culture?"

The eight-day training covers communication skills, conflict dynamics, and the mediation process. It teaches "peaceful and constructive approaches to conflict and its resolution, whether in the workplace, at home, or in our community," according to the WVDRC.

Participants who complete the course will be eligible to begin a mediation practicum to become certified volunteer mediators with the WVDRC.

The training will take place at the WVDRC office, with all course materials provided. The registration fee is $550, with discounts available for groups of three or more from the same organization. The training is approved for Clock Hours for educators.

Interested individuals can find more information and register through the WVDRC website at https://www.wvdrc.org/events. The center can also be contacted at info@wvdrc.org or (509) 888-0957 for further information.
