Economic Alliance announces upcoming business training schedule

BREWSTER -- Representatives of the Economic Alliance attended the regular monthly of the Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, April 9, with handouts involving training opportunities this month and next.

Economic Development Specialist Mason Duke and Business Outreach Specialist Leonel Marcial announced a series of classes starting on April 16 and running through June 5. The training includes:

April 16, 5-7 p.m. – Start Simple at TwispWorks

April 30, 10 a.m.-12 noon – Succession Planning & Selling Your Business.

April 30, 5-7 p.m. – Start Simple at TwispWorks.

May 6, 10 a.m. – 12 noon – Social Media Strategy for Small Businesses and Non=Profits.

May 8, 10 a.m. – 12 noon – Strengthening Small Business and Chamber Engagement.

May 13, 10 a.m. – 12 noon – Content Creation Essentials.

May 15, 10 a.m. -12 noon – Building Your Business Foundation.

May 20 - 10 a.m. – 12 noon – Navigating Cash Flow and Profitability.

May 22 10 a.m. – 12 noon – Chamber Operations – Long Term Success.

June 5, 10 a.m. – 12 noon – Choosing the Right Online Selling Platform. 

All classes not at TwispWorks will be held at the EA office at 238 E. Oak St. in Okanogan. Registration is available online at https://ow.ly/glc550VouYo.

In other business the Chamber:

  • Reminded members of the two-day 3-on-3 basketball tournament coming to Goehry Memorial Basketball Court on July 4th. Entry fee is $40 per team and all participants will receive a souvenir T-shirt. Karl Word, who worked with the city council in 2013 on the agreement to build the court, will address a future Chamber meeting to provide more details on the event.
  • Created a survey by President Anna Marie Dalbey to encourage more community feedback about future projects including preference for a pickleball or volleyball court, more walkable streets, a sign over Main Street, and other suggestions.
  • Discussed a possible arrangement with a turf company to returf the soccer field and both little league baseball fields.
  • Heard about an Okanogan PUD solar workshop at 5:30 p.m., May 13, in the PUD auditorium, 1331 Second Avenue N., to demonstrate how solar works.
  • Learned of a digital kiosk coming to Brewster city hall in the next couple of months.
