WENATCHEE — Confluence Health has announced Janette Townsend as its new chief financial officer, bringing more than 25 years of healthcare financial leadership to the role as the organization works to expand access to care and enhance its primary and digital services.

Townsend most recently served as vice president of finance – CFO finance operations and chief investment officer at Marshfield Clinic Health System in Wisconsin, a nonprofit organization with approximately 11,000 employees serving communities across northern, central, and western Wisconsin as well as Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

“Confluence Health is proud to welcome Janette Townsend to our organization as our new CFO,” said Dr. Andrew Jones, chief executive officer of Confluence Health. “With her extensive and varied experience in the world of nonprofit healthcare finance, in particular in working to serve rural communities, we look forward to her collaborative approach to bring effective and creative solutions toward our efforts to provide outstanding care to the residents of North Central Washington.”

Originally from Chicago, Townsend has longstanding ties to the Pacific Northwest. She attended Oregon State University on a swimming scholarship and later settled in Bend, Oregon, where she raised her family. Her son, Jacob, is currently studying to become a teacher, and her daughter, Sarah, is pursuing a degree in interior design.

“In my visits to Wenatchee, I have encountered a friendly, active community in a beautiful area. I can't wait to settle in, get to know people, and go explore,” Townsend said. “I've been working in nonprofit healthcare for over 25 years and have a passion for serving my community. I was really drawn to the mission of Confluence Health, and the passion that people have for providing amazing care for their community is inspiring. I am looking forward to becoming a part of the area and joining this amazing team.”

At Confluence Health, Townsend will help guide financial strategy as the organization continues its mission of delivering “local care by and for our community.” Her focus will include actionable financial analysis, strategic planning, and cultivating an engaged and productive finance team.

Confluence Health serves more than 12,000 square miles across Chelan, Douglas, Grant, and Okanogan counties and is one of only two locally-led healthcare systems in Washington state. Governance is provided by a board consisting of nine community members and six physicians.
