Buhl receives Friend of Children award

Posted

Rosie Buhl, left, accepts the Friend of Children award from Brewster School Superintendent Lynnette Blackburn for her extraordinary support and dedication to students in need over the past 20 years. Buhl purchases dolls for students in need and personally delivers them to schools in the area. Her network of friends, skilled in sewing and knitting, contribute by creating clothes, blankets, and other items, enhancing the experience for the children who receive the gifts. Each doll is uniquely themed, ranging from cowgirls to firefighters, adding a personal touch to every delivery. The Friend of Children award was created in 1992 to recognize outstanding volunteers in the communities represented by the districts within the North Central Educational Service District’s four-county region. Recipients of the award make extraordinary contributions to local schools, not for fame or notoriety, but because that is simply who they are as a community member.
