Area youths invited to participate in Chelan Prom Swap event, May 10
Chelan High School senior and ASB President Anna Kelly is preparing for her senior prom in a thrifty way.

She and friends from CHS are inviting all area juniors and seniors preparing for prom 2014 to participate in a prom swap.

"Maybe you have old dresses that you want to swap out for someone else's old dress," Kelly said.

Budget

It was reported that the budget expenditures were on track and the District was beginning the budget process for next year. There were essentially no changes from the legislative session, so the budget is estimated to be similar to this year. Enrollment has held steady at just over 900 fte.

MEETING CALLED TO

ORDER

The regular meeting of the board of directors of the Pateros School District #122-70J was called to order at 5:30 p.m. in the Pateros School Library by Chairperson Marty Robinson with roll call of members and declaration of quorum. The pledge of allegiance was recited. Board members in attendance were Grace Larsen, Chad Miller, Marc Armstrong, and LaDonna Mattson. Also present were Lois Davies, Superintendent; Michael Hull, Principal; Melodie Allen, Business Manager; and Linda Ehlenbach, Recording Secretary. Visitors: Scotti Wiltse, Madison Ervin, Yamile Ascencion, Guadalupe Martinez, Sue Jerald, Bill Haley, Paul Harris, Carlene Anders, Jessi Dowers, and Connie Miller.

Bridgeport High School students earn scholarships
Bridgeport High School students said farewell to high school last Sunday, June 1, as they received their diplomas. Along with the pomp and circumstance, several students were awarded with scholarships to continue their careers.

Brewster Science Club earns top honors at engineering competition
It was the third annual KidWind Challenge at CWU held on Saturday April 12. The competition included two components. Students from across the state built wind turbines to compete to see what team could put out the most milliwatts and generate electricity. The second component was an interview by Engineers who asked them very specific questions about their machines; things about their gear ratios and how they came up with their design as well as what they may have experimented with that didn't work.
