All DCSO patrol cars now AED equipped

Posted

BRIDGEPORT – Douglas County Sheriff, Harvey Gjesdal told the Bridgeport City Council that all the patrol cars in his fleet, including his own, are now fully equipped with portable Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).
Last November, the DSCO was the recipient of an $8,000 grant awarded by the Community Foundation of North Central Washington that allowed the department to purchase additional AED’s for their vehicles.
Deputies have already put the units to use on several occasions and have saved at least one life through their use.
The DCSO has been gradually acquiring the AED’s for more than a year now, thanks to public contributions and grants.
Last Friday, March 17, Gjesdal addressed the third, fourth, and fifth graders at Bridgeport Elementary School.
“We talked about the negative consequences of bullying and how it can play into the lives of those being bullied well into adulthood,” said Gjesdal. “The kids were very engaged and the staff was a great help.”
Gjesdal said the discussion concluded with a fun question and answer period and I passed out junior Deputy badges to kids who could recall points from my talk.”
